Complementing the existing MicroLogix product series of small controllers, this industrial computer includes all the critical features found in the MicroLogix 1100, including on-line editing, Ethernet/Internet protocol (IP) support, and an integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) panel that comes with a backlight, which lets you display original equipment manufacturer logos at startup. In addition, this Allen-Bradley product builds on the strengths of older series of PLCs and now offers faster high-speed counter/pulse train output, a higher input/output (I/O) count, and increased support for various types of communication. One of the models in this series, the 1766-L32BXBA is suitable for applications, such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) deployments, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and general industrial machinery. The 1766-L32BXBA includes a processor, power supply, built-in I/O, two serial ports and an Ethernet port. This programmable units battery-back, non-volatile random access memory (RAM) enables 10 KB words per user program and 10 KB words per user data. Plus, the 1766-L32BXBA lets you log your data for up 128 KB and allocate 64 KB for recipe. No need to worry if you run out of embedded memory. An expansion module is available for you to easily increase your systems RAM capacity. Take advantage of this PLCs enhanced modular architecture where you can mix and match a series of input and output devices based on your application needs. It comes with 12 digital fast and 8 digital normal, 24V direct current (DC) inputs, three fast and three normal 24V DC outputs, six relay outputs for vibration and shock relay, and a 24V DC power supply. Offering up to six channels at 100 kilohertz, this PLC includes four analog inputs and two analog outputs. To accommodate tougher control applications, this industrial control system also offers greater flexibility and scalability through support for an expansion I/O module. This Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1400 PLC is integrated with two serial ports: an isolated RS232C/RS485 combination port and a non-isolated RS232C port. Interface, via these ports, enables a wide range of transmission types, including DF1 full-duplex, DF1 half-duplex master/slave, DF1 radio modem, Modbus remote terminal unit master/slave, DH-485 and American standard code for information interchange (ASCII)-based communications. Additionally, the embedded RJ-45 10/100 port, which delivers high-speed connectivity of up to 100 megabits per second, gives you peer-to-peer messaging, email service and Web server capability. Forming part of a complete system-level architecture, this PLC is powered by the RSLogix 500 programming software. Updating to the newer RSLogix micro programming software does not require replacement of your current hardware, since this programmable device comes with a flash upgradable operating system. Compared to conventional mounting techniques, the rack less design of this unit also makes it panel-mountable or DIN-rail, which enables you to maximize space.
