The Horiba 30005232 OCMA-500 oil-content monitor and analyzer measures oil concentration in drainage and environmental water, and is used to monitor factory discharge water, ballast and bilge water, water quality near vehicle maintenance sites and gas stations, and for oil dispersion research during and after spills. The spectrophotometer utilizes solvent extraction and NDIR (non-dispersive infrared sensor) analysis measurement principles. It has an automatic mode to ease testing and a manual mode that allows operators to customize testing requirements. The extraction tank is backlit to facilitate viewing that allows accurate extraction times to be set. The built-in extractor extracts substances from sample water and solvent using infrared absorption of 3.4 to 3.5??m. It uses S-316 extraction solvent (sold separately) and has sample water-to-solvent ratio of 2:1. Test results can be expressed as mg/L, mg/kg, mg/g, and mg/PC. The spectrophotometer has a 3.5" LCD that displays test results, and a USB memory-stick port data for transfer to a PC for analysis or long-term records retention.
