The Heidolph Tuttnauer 3850ELV top-loading autoclave (model HEI-023210920) is a 62 L/16.4 gallon electric vertical steam sterilizer with 25 x 40 cm (diameter x depth) chamber, two small wire baskets, a built-in printer, a RS-232 connection, and a 208 V power source for use with standard outlets. The built-in printer documents Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), such as temperature and elapsed time at the end of each cycle, and the RS-232 connection transfers data to PCs. The autoclave has four adjustable programs with temperature selections from 105 to 137 degrees C (221 to 279 F) with sterilization times up to 59 minutes for simplified and reproducible operations. The top-loading autoclave comes with two small wire baskets for maximizing space in the chamber by holding instruments, liquids, laboratory equipment, and other items to be sterilized.
A digital display continuously shows temperature, pressure, and running time. Every stage of the cycle is automatic and micro-processor controlled from water-fill, to sterilization, exhaust, and drying. The autoclave has a low water alarm for notifying the user when the reservoir needs to be refilled, an in-line particle filter to protect valves, and standby heating to keep the chamber warm in between cycles. A battery backup ensures retention of settings and controls in the event of a power failure.
The stainless steel 316 titanium (Ti) chamber capacity is 62 L/16.4 gallons and dimensions are 38 x 48 cm (15 x 19 inches) (diameter x depth); exterior dimensions are 50 x 65 x 76 cm (19.69 x 25.59 x 29.92 inches) (H x W x D ), and it weighs 85 kg (187 lb).
