The Tutwiler method is widely used for the determination of hydrogen sulfide in gas mixtures. The method is simple and the results are within the limits necessary for control analysis. Two solutions are used- standard iodine and starch. Mercaptans are absorbed along with hydrogen sulfide. the Tutwiler apparatus is all glass and can be cleaned easily.
