The Benchmark Research Products B4000-16 BioClave Benchtop Digital Research Autoclave is an electric device with a 16 L chamber capacity used for steam sterilizing laboratory equipment. The autoclave digitally displays two selectable temperatures (either 121 or 134 degrees C) and a selection of preset sterilization programs, including an unwrapped, wrapped, liquid, or dry cycle. The autoclave features three trays for maximizing space in the chamber by holding instruments, liquids, laboratory equipment, and other items to be sterilized. The maximum pressure and load weight depend on the object being sterilized. A mechanical and electrical safety feature prevents the door from being opened until the chamber has reached zero pounds per square inch (psi). The BioClave autoclave is commonly used in laboratories, comes with a one year warranty, and meets European Economic Community (EEC) Council Directive 93/42/EEC standards.
The chamber capacity is 16 L and its dimensions are 23 (diameter) x 35 cm (length) (9 x 13.75 inches); tray dimensions are 16.5 x 27 cm (6.5 x 10.75 inches) (W x L); and exterior dimensions are 40 x 56 x 44.5 cm/15.7 x 22.0 x 17.5 inches (H x W x D), and it weighs 40 kg (89 lb.).
