Brand: LABOMED

Features:

  • Polarizing microscope uses transmitted light and a polarizing unit to view thin sections of minerals, polymers, crystals, and particulates, and has a Bertrand lens for viewing conoscopic images
  • Siedentopf binocular head with pair of 10x18mm widefield eyepieces, 50 to 75mm interpupillary adjustment, fixed 30-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and 360-degree rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing
  • Reverse-mounted nosepiece with 4x, 10x, 20xS, and 40xS strain-free infinity plan objectives that minimize distortion and provide focus over the entire range of the viewing field, and a longer working distance for improved focus when auxiliary components are utilized
  • Lower polarizing illumination enhances contrast, and a halogen light source with 1.25 NA Abbe condenser and blue filter provides clear examination and light control
  • Round measuring stage rotates to position specimens, and coaxial nested coarse and fine focus knobs speed focusing

Details:

The Labomed LB-540 Polarizing Siedentopf Binocular Compound Microscope has a pair of 10x widefield eyepieces, a Bertrand lens, a reverse-mounted nosepiece with four strain-free infinity plan objectives, halogen illumination, coaxial nested coarse and fine focus, a 1.25 NA Abbe condenser with blue filter, and a rotating round stage. A 10x18mm eyepiece with graticule allows specimens to be measured. A transmitted polarizing microscope uses transmitted light and a polarizing unit to enhance contrast for viewing thin sections of minerals, polymers, crystals, and particulates in geological, metallurgical, chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications.

The Siedentopf binocular head has a pair of eyepieces with interpupillary adjustment, fixed inclination to reduce eye and neck strain, and rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. A Siedentopf binocular head enables the viewer to change the interpupillary distance without changing the tube length, eliminating the need to refocus the image. A reverse-mounted nosepiece keeps objectives out of the way to prevent damage and contamination, and to enable more secure slide handling. Infinity plan objectives provide focus over the entire range of the viewing field, and a longer working distance for improved focus when auxiliary components are utilized. Strain-free objectives minimize distortion. The 20xS and 40xS objectives are retractable and spring-loaded to prevent damage to the slide or objective when focusing.

The microscope has lower (diascopic) illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. The polarizing unit consists of a polarizer and analyzer, both of which can rotate 360 degrees. The built-in Bertrand lens enables viewing of conoscopic images (interference figures). The halogen light source provides bright light in a concentrated path. The Abbe condenser can be adjuste
