Details:
The BestScope BS-6010BR Metallurgical Siedentopf Binocular Compound Microscope has a pair of 10x widefield eyepieces, a reverse-mounted nosepiece with five infinity plan achromatic objectives, Kohler halogen illumination, coaxial coarse and fine focus, and a mechanical stage. The Siedentopf binocular head has a pair of eyepieces with interpupillary adjustment, and a fixed inclination to reduce eye and neck strain. A Siedentopf binocular head enables the viewer to change the interpupillary distance without changing the tube length, eliminating the need to refocus the image. A reverse-mounted nosepiece keeps objectives out of the way to prevent damage and contamination, and to enable more secure slide handling. Infinity plan achromatic objectives provide color correction, focus over the entire range of the viewing field, and a longer working distance for improved focus when auxiliary components are utilized. A metallurgical microscope uses reflected light to view opaque or metallurgical specimens.
The microscope has upper (episcopic) Kohler illumination that reflects light off the specimen for enhanced visibility of opaque specimens, and has a polarizer and analyzer for enhanced contrast. Kohler illumination focuses and centers the light path using two iris diaphragms, providing optimum contrast and resolution. The halogen light source provides bright light in a concentrated path, and a rheostat controls the amount of light emanating from the lamp. Green, gray, and frosted filters are included to modify the light to suit various specimens. The mechanical stage locks the slide into place and provides precise slide manipulation along the X- and Y-axes. Coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs speed focusing for left-and right-handed viewers.
